Personalized Music
Developing individualized music experiences informed by personal history, familiarity, and emotional significance, with the goal of exploring comfort, engagement, and stress-related responses.
Personalized Music. Neuroscience. Human Connection.
Exploring how personalized sensory experiences, computational neuroscience, and noninvasive physiological monitoring can inform new approaches to supporting individuals living with cognitive decline.
Syndicate of Sound & Synapse (SoSS) is an emerging neurotechnology company developing personalized, music-based approaches to support emotional well-being, engagement, and quality of life for individuals living with Alzheimer's disease and other forms of cognitive decline.
We bring together neuroscience, music, computational biology, and immersive technology to investigate how individualized sensory experiences may help address agitation, anxiety, and the loss of familiarity associated with neurodegenerative disease.
Our work is guided by a simple principle: meaningful connections to music, emotion, and personal identity deserve to be preserved.
We are developing a personalized, noninvasive approach that combines meaningful music experiences with individualized response evaluation.
Our proposed process begins by learning about each individual's musical history, personal preferences, meaningful memories, and care environment.
From there, we aim to develop tailored music experiences, observe individual responses, and use those observations to inform future sessions.
Developing individualized music experiences informed by personal history, familiarity, and emotional significance, with the goal of exploring comfort, engagement, and stress-related responses.
Investigating noninvasive salivary cortisol measurements as an exploratory way to study stress-related responses before and after personalized music experiences.
Building biological network models to examine molecular signaling associated with Alzheimer's disease, neuronal plasticity, and stress regulation.
Creating interactive three-dimensional visualizations of biological signaling networks while exploring future immersive environments inspired by personal familiarity and memory.
Envisioning accessible digital experiences that help families and caregivers preserve meaningful music, personal stories, and connections to individual identity.
Connecting scientific modeling, exploratory data collection, and iterative technology development to guide future pilot studies and service design.
Our scientific interests include brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF), a protein involved in neuronal survival, synaptic plasticity, and learning, alongside cortisol, a hormone involved in the body's stress response.
Through computational modeling and exploratory research, we seek to better understand the relationships among neurobiological signaling, stress, music, and cognitive health.
One component of our research is an interactive model of BDNF-related signaling pathways in Alzheimer's disease. This work connects molecular neuroscience with systems modeling and immersive visualization.
Our long-term research vision is to investigate whether biological modeling, noninvasive physiological measurements, and personalized sensory experiences can contribute to more individualized approaches to cognitive care.
BDNF-related measures and cortisol monitoring are research interests, not established diagnostic methods or validated measures of treatment effectiveness within SoSS.
As our research and development progresses, we envision working with:
We envision a future in which personalized music and sensory technologies become more accessible to individuals, families, caregivers, and memory-care communities.
Our goal is to develop an adaptable service model that brings together individualized music sessions, ongoing response evaluation, and optional immersive experiences.
To explore and develop personalized neurotechnologies that preserve human connection, support dignity, and improve the experience of living with cognitive decline.
Behind every neurological network is a human life. Behind every memory is a story worth preserving.
Syndicate of Sound & Synapse is currently in the research and early development stage.
Our work includes computational neuroscience research, interactive biological visualization, intervention design, and planning for exploratory pilot studies.
We are interested in connecting with research collaborators, potential care-community partners, and individuals or organizations who share our commitment to advancing compassionate, evidence-informed approaches to cognitive care.
SoSS does not currently provide medical diagnosis or treatment. Proposed music-based interventions, physiological monitoring methods, and immersive care technologies remain exploratory and have not been established as clinically effective treatments.
Interested in our research, technology, potential partnerships, or future development?
We welcome conversations with caregivers, researchers, memory-care organizations, and prospective collaborators.
